LAST CHANCE TO VOTE in Law Society Membership Ballot
The deadline for voting in the Law Society's Membership Ballot is 4pm on Wednesday 6th January 2021 and we encourage all Surrey Law Society members to exercise their right to vote on the two motions proposed if they have not already done so.
As a Law Society member, you should have received an email from Civica, with instructions on how to participate in the ballot. The email will come from ‘CES’, and the email address will be ‘takepart@CESvotes.com’. If you have not received the email, please check your spam mail folder.
The proposals covered in the ballot will:
- reduce the number of geographical seats for some geographical constituencies including Surrey from two to one.
- increase seats for other groups.
- introduce a 12-year term limit for Council members – an important issue for the profession.
If the membership would like Surrey to retain two seats on the Law Society Council you are encouraged to vote against resolution 3 passed at the AGM (Proposal: The Change in the composition of Council that includes reduction in the Council seats for Surrey to one instead of two). The other resolution 4 limits Council Members to a 12 year term which your two Council Members do not think is appropriate as it limits your choice with no tangible benefit in return.
