Find-a-solicitor
Why use a Surrey solicitor?
There are over 1240 Surrey Law Society Member Solicitors practising in Surrey, in over 300 firms, from the largest multi-partner firms to small sole practitioner practices. Between us we cover:
- The whole of the County
- All areas of the law.
- A diversity of backgrounds and cultures.
- All sizes of firm and ranges of specialism.
Personal Relationships
Have you ever had the pleasure of dealing with faceless and remote call centres when trying to progress matters with your bank, insurance company and the like? Many of the national bulk legal operations now work in this way and the potential for delay and added stress in the progress of your transaction is significant.
Our members depend on their local reputation and client relationships for ongoing and repeat business, and will do everything they can to progress your transaction in an effective and time efficient manner.
Local knowledge
Our members have in depth and detailed local knowledge of many matters that will affect your transaction and which may not be well known to practitioners from out of the area. In particular:
- Planning
- Environmental
- Local Authority practices.
- Local Courts
- Other agencies which may be involved.
- Other specialists from whom you may require input to see your matter through: surveyors, architects, arbitrators, doctors, valuers, auctioneers barristers; even other solicitors where a particularly specialist service is required.
Cost effective, transparent fees, and attention to detail
Our members survive on repeat business, and our charges are reasonable, fair and transparent. It is surprising how many apparently cheaper headline quotes are actually more expensive than our members’ charges when so-called “additional items” such as acting for lenders, completing stamp duty land tax returns, and the like are included.
We would encourage you to always get a fully transparent and competitive quote prior to instructing a bulk service provider. We would also strongly urge you to talk to a local solicitor before using online services or instructing out of area – we regularly have to pick up the pieces in the following sorts of cases:-
- The use of ready-made wills resulting in unintended consequences, and often in a completely invalid will, with disastrous consequences for the family
- Conveyancing chains falling apart, or suffering significant additional delays and expense, as a result of inefficiencies in bulk conveyancing operations
- Mistakes and errors in court proceedings, especially divorce; it is all too easy for an ill-advised spouse to be left unable to make any financial claim whatsoever against their former husband or wife.
Speed
Our members understand the importance of timeliness in dealing with your transaction. A same day service can often be offered, and the convenience of being able to call into a local office to deal with routine matters such as identity checks, the dropping off of documents and so on cannot be overestimated.
Local accessibility also reduces travel time and your carbon footprint.
Personal attention by one person or a specialist team to suit your needs and out of hours visits may be available.
Our members will also invariably be willing to arrange to visit you at home if you are unable to travel to our offices.
Our members will do all that they can to provide you with the highest quality service, at a fair and reasonable fee, and with the highest quality attention to detail. Our members depend on repeat business and look forward to working with you, your family, and your colleagues for many decades to come.
