Course outline
Please Note : This course has been re-scheduled from 24th March 2010
Money Laundering Regulations are designed to protect the UK financial system. All law firms are covered by the regulations and must put in place certain controls to prevent their firm being used for money laundering by criminals and terrorists. These controls include appointing a Money Laundering Reporting Office (MLRO), checking the identity of customers and keeping all relevant documents. The MLRO must also report any suspicious activity to the Serious Organised Crime Agency.
This course provides vital information for the profession on money laundering. It meets compliance requirements of the Solicitors Regulation Authority, for Lexcel and other professional management standards.
The course will cover:
• Money Laundering Regulations 2007
• The fundamental concept
• Due diligence
• Beneficial ownership
• Regulatory perspective
Standard: Intermediate/Advanced
