Course outline

With the Land Registry taking on an ever-increasing role in relation to property law and conveyancing, you need to quickly & correctly handle dealings with them when applying for registration of land & encumbrances.  In particular, as of 3 August 2010, the policy in relation to early completion and the discharge of mortgages may cause problems.  An essential skill in modern day property conveyancing.

This course will analyse Land Registry procedure and advise you, the practitioner, as to best practice. It will consider the following issues:
• Discharge of mortgages and early completion
• Identity checks and dematerialisation of fraud
• Applications for registration
• Confidentiality and the Registry
• Specific issues in relation to leases
• Registration of easements and covenants
• Acceptance of plans; boundary problems
• Alteration of the Register
• Overriding Interests
